Even though I have a DP Tuner that I can set, I still installed a Ravelco to make sure it does not move....unless you drag it out of the driveway

helped a friend out in this same situation. money was tight, but he needed to do something.

we bought an $8 switch at oh-rye-lees and installed it in a hidden location under the dash. it cuts the power to the fuel pump.

simple, easy, effective- cheap. it cost him more in beer, lol.

The problem with cutting the fuel is when they try to start the truck it will still be firing the injectors without any fuel to lubricate them. They may not drive away but you might end up needing a set of injectors. Might be best to cut power to the IDM or PCM.

Is there a link on the best way to cut power to the IDM or PCM?

Yep, www.cyclops.com
I'll spend the $149 for it just so I don't have to sweat my *** off under my dash.

Cyclops cuts power to the fuel pump as well but it shouldn't matter as the IDM is also cut out. Anyway I think the 7.3 injectors are pretty resilient to dry firing compared to the later engines. Still it is something to be avoided.

people who have run their truck out of fuel know how loud the injectors get.

how much time do you think the crooks are going to spend trying to start it?

The cyclops is just a remote controlled relay. It cuts power to whatever circuit it gets plugged into. I don't believe the fuel pump and IDM are on the same circuit. You could put it in the spot to control the PCM and that would cut the fuel pump power though, but might also be easier to figure out than an IDM shut off.

I have a ball valve on my fuel line just before my Dahl filter. I can turn it off as a preventative measure, but the one time I did I forgot to turn it back on! It started, idled for a couple mins, and drove about 200 yards before it started sputterin'. Not a bad anti theft in that it will start and drive out to presumably a more visible location before dying.

One thing about the cyclops is that the relay looks very much like the stock one. Mine came with a couple of stickers on it but I removed them so it is not obvious that it is not a stock relay.

yeah, it will run with whatever is left in the fuel bowl.

my buddy was in a tight spot and needed something fast, easy, and most importantly-- cheap.

put a shut-off valve on old green when the hutch mod was done. have never used it- paid $$$$ for an alarm as soon as it was purchased.

There are numerous things you can do to prevent, or make it harder to get. A thief wants it now with as little to do as possible. If it gets difficult along the way, they generally move on.

Once the ignition key is in the IGN position, you press and release the momentary switch and then turn the key to the START position and fire the engine as normal.
RELAY 1
Terminal 86 - From one side of momentary switch.
Terminal 85 - Connect to a suitable earthing point on the vehicle chassis.
Terminal 30 - From +12V ignition switch IGN position. This supply also feeds the other side of the momentary switch.
Terminal 87 - To terminal 86 and Relay 2 terminal 86.

RELAY 2
Terminal 86 - From Relay 1 terminal 86.
Terminal 85 - Connect to a suitable earthing point on the vehicle chasis
Terminal 30 - From +12V ignition switch START position
Terminal 87 - To starter motor solenoid.

I don't have the answer but I do have a Viper alarm with the flashing LED that keeps the honest people honest and the lazy thief moving to an easier target.
I just put two of these on my F150 which had the basid anyi theft system in it

oh and does anyone have any links to the cyclops relay theyare speaking of, or any of the other anti theft items, I am interested in making it hard to take my truck...
