I have a stock one and one from a 2000 which people say is a higher voltage? Not for sure. And my truck runs fine on both.

The one I finally found is from an 01 it says 120 v on the plug and the one that came out of my 97 says 100v on it I can't tell a difference should I be able to? What's the benefit of people changing to newer idm's?

You can use anything from a 1994.5 to a 2003. Look at the ID tag, it will tell you how many volts it has. The voltage just has to do with how long the injector stays open for fuel delivery. Higher voltage means more fuel to the cylinders.

So I should be able to tell a difference in performance then since I have more voltage than the factory idm?

Doubtful. You may notice faster response and smoother idle.
