A shimmy or shake my Ex

ok...........got an issue with my 01 excursion. When driving the steering wheel with vibrate or shimmy. As in if the rotor maybe warped or tire has a small bubble in it. Here is the kicker. It does not do it all the time. Some times I can drive it and it drives just as smooth as can be and I can go all the way to town and back. Then sometimes I can drive it to town and either turn a curve or hit a bump and then it will start doing it. Then I will come back home. Then the next time i jump in it and start driving down the road and it is just fine. I just had the brakes and rotors were just changed..................Any ideas my EX brothers out there

Does it pulse or vibrate more while braking and turning? More so to the left or to the right?

1st, WELCOME to the world of XXX's
2nd, PLEASE add your location to you profile
3rd, What you have described is not typical to the X to my knowledge, HOWEVER, YOU have described to the tee, a bad steering stabilizer .
To test this, the next time this happens stop as soon as possible or slowdown until the shake stops, resume driving and it should be fine till the next bump.

Ok...........well it does not do it more when going fast or slow. I do not notice it does it more whether braking or not. Now I did stop get out and look and then I put vehicle in drive and not give it gas and just let it kinda coast forward and I did notice that when just barely moving forward the steering wheel would kinda pulse to the driver side a little.

Ok I did figure it out. It was the driver side brake caliper was no releasing after it heated up. Only after driving it a little would you apply the brakes and after that would you get the shimmy.

Thanks for posting your finding... those caliper pins quite often get sticky and don't let the pads slide correctly; definitely a maintenance item for all of us!

I am going to change out the calipers and the lines just safe measurement..... It has around 109k miles so it is time. I figured it out from the pull it was doing to the driver side plus i put it in a parking lot. Put it in neutral and i was unable to move the vehicle. Put it in drive....started moveing then put in neutral again and came to a stop without touching the brake. Just glad i figured it out......750 bux later.........
