Question for those who have relocated their highboy fuel tank to the frame

To those who have put a different fuel tank in the frame of your highboy, what did you do for the sending unit? The reason I ask is that I located a Bronco II tank from craigslist which has the sending unit and everything with it. But, I'm wondering if this unit will hook up to the wires/gauge that is already on the truck. Do I need to use a sending unit from a 78 or 79 truck that already has the tank in the frame? Please advise. Thank you in advance

I found this site: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Tech - FORDification.com
and at the bottom, it says: 73-10 Ohms pre-1989 Fords & most Chryslers

So, if the tank is pre1989 bronco II, then you should be fine.

Give the article a read over, as you can use a multimeter to measure the ohms from the sending unit wire, to ground and get a reasonable idea if it'll work or not.

The Bronco is actually an '89 so I guess I will have to check that out. I will look at the article. Thanks for the response!

'pre-89" would mean 1988 and earlier, right?

With my luck "pre-89" would mean '88 and earlier. He only wants $5 for the tank though, so I may just take the chance and see if I can get it to work.
