1996 5.8l engine build questions.

Hi all.

My 351w blew a head gasket and has a rear main seal leak, so I'm in the process of pulling the engine. While it's off, I want to do some upgrades, but have some questions. Currently the engine is stock with MAF and OBD II. Truck is 4x4.
The truck is used for camper hauling and id like to increase the power-primarily torque-some without going crazy.

Here's my questions:

Going to pull the heads and have them machined and a valve job done.

I intend to put headers on (still debating long pipes vs shorties). Will the shorties hook up to the stock exhaust? I'm pretty sure additional exhaust work will be needed for the long tubes..

While off, I'm debating boring the cylinders no more than .030 over. Will this impact my intake, cam, ECU, timing?

Should I entertain a new cam? I have read that the stock cam is good, just want some input.

With the oversized pistons and headers alone, will the ECU need a new tune or will I be OK?

Probably not asking all the right questions, but am looking for some insight.
Thanks.
