Rear drop question?

I put SIDS 2" drop axle on the front of my stock 52 F1, with Posies 3" drop. Looks great!!! The backi put the 3" drop springs and it's just not low enough. If I remove every other sprin how much drop can I get? Looking for about 2" more. I know I could do a rear axle swap but I'm scared it's too low and will let axle pumpkin hit the bed. I would like to install the wood stock bed? Got some pics and ideas guys?? I'll send a pic later

I installed posies on my black '51 and it actually raised the rear end. I ended up taking out some leaves (leafs?). Here's what I posted on it back when i had this similar problem. Good luck!

Awesome thread Wallster. Thank you. Wondering how much drop I would get if I removed every other leaf on my new Posies rear 3" drop pack? The front is perfect with SIDS 2" drop axle and posies 3" drop front springs. Need to get the rear 2" lower for my liking..

Here's a pic of my drop so far. The back looks lower than what it really is because of uneven parking spot.

So what Leafs should I remove on the rear? How many? Looking for 2" drop. Also do the extended Y hangers work on my 52 in the rear to lower it??

I would suggest that you check with Posies before removing leaves from their springs. Also you need to drive them a while before they settle down. Spraying lube between the leaves helps speed up the process.

My rear SuperSliders settled about an inch. Posies makes their own springs using newer technology than the original springs. When I picked up my springs from their shop in Hummelstown, PA we talked about removing leaves and I believe that they did not recommend it on their springs, but I would check with them directly. They were also talking about doing a Dual Flex for the rear which gave me a 2-3" drop in the front. I've not seen it in their catalogue though.

Here are some before and after pictures that will give you some idea of how things settled out.

After settling

Before settling but larger tires in the rear

I did the full posies 3" drop kit front and rear but also did a 2" drop axle so the back will never catch up to my front. I'd like to get it down two more inches in the rear. I'm sure the front and back springs will settle and drop but like I said the back will never catch the front.

Yes, a lot of people lower their truck by removing every other leaf from the stock spring stack. The Posies springs are already built to be as low as possible, DO NOT remove leafs from the Posies springs! Did you load the suspension by putting the truck's weight on it before tightening the shackle pin bolts? Did you use lowering (shorter) non- nitrogen filled shocks? Have you driven it at least 500 miles to settle? I'd check the Classic Haulers catalog for other things you can do to lower the rear such as lowering shackles and/or moving the spring mounts higher on the frame. You could also use lower profile tires. Flipping the axle (putting it on top the springs) will require major surgery/modifications.

Yeah we did that. Like I said I have 5" drop in front 3" in rear. 2 more in the back epwould be perfect. Axle flop is a big deal and would put pumpkin up into my bed. That sounds like a lot of work.....Soooooo what's out there to drop my F1 rear about 2"?????
Ext Y hangers?
Adj leaf mounts?? I was on Classic Haulers today, it gives no details about either product...
