Advice needed on online tire and wheel purchase

Fellas,

I have searched through the forum to find any reviews about tread depot but alas none that really answered my question within the past few years at least. Im looking to buy new wheels and tires for my 2015 f250. Tread depot has the best price for the setup, however i have never used them before or bought my wheels and tires online. Any tips, suggestions, reviews, walk away's would be helpful!

Cheers!

How will mount the tires once they have been shipped to you. Never got tires online before but that was always my question. Tire Rack has dealers that will install their tires but like I said never have bought tires online.

Well i contacted them and they said they would mount and balance the tires before shipping and that the package would be ready to go on my truck once they arrive. They also have installers like tire rack that will literally just mount the tires and wheels to your vehicle from my understanding from their support team.

Have you tried local tire shops to compare? I found that after adding for mount and balance they were able to get very close plus there group I get rotations, flat repairs, and road hazard, although RH is prorated but better than full price. these services might not be important to you.

I have done all my online research for best price + shipping and taken it to Discount Tire. They've always matched or come very close to the price to make it worthwhile to not order them online. Plus you get free rotation and balances for the life of the tires.

I've used Tread Depot several times and been happy. They don't always have the best price, but they often do. I mount and balance my own tires, so I don't need to add in that expense. If you buy tires and wheels as a package, already mounted and balanced, you don't either.

Got 2 tires from tread depot last fall, best price and prompt service. I'd buy from them again

Buddy bought tires/wheels from discount online a few years back. They were shipped mounted and balanced and all he had to put them on.

I have a friend that owns a repair shop, inspection station. And the prices he gave me were always within a buck or two per tire, of the best price I could find online anywhere. The last 2 sets I got were better than what I could find online. He does not install a lot of tires, he gets them from a distributor about 11 miles from his business. I have sent friends to his shop for work and they found the same thing. He would always be within a buck or two per tire or beat online, so he was not giving me any supper friend discount. He also gives rotation and flat repair with his price. I would check local if I were you.

I bought my Toyos from Tread Depot. Had them shipped to work and had the local Ford dealer mount and balance on my OEM rims.

I have also used Tire Rack. I bought wheels and tires for my Camaro from them. They mounted and balanced them for free before shipping. They arrived ready to go. All I had to do was install them onto the car.

I just got a TireRack wheel and tire package installed today. They shipped them mounted and balanced. I opted for them to install new tpms sensors too. No charge for labor. You can't go wrong with them. Firestone is an authorized installer for them and put them on for $5 a wheel.

I've also used Discount Tire Direct with success.

Just don't forget about tpms in your package.

If I had do-overs, I'd try to agree to a maximum balance weight, meaning if it took over x amount of weight, they'd agree to grab another tire and mount it. I have one with what seems like a lot of stick on weights, the other three seem normal. I bought tires and wheels online for about the same price i could only get tires locally.

But other than that, if you have a floor jack and a tire iron or impact wrench, its not a bad deal, other than the wait for delivery
