Excellent thread!

Do you plan to replace to oil pick up tube or the rear main deal while she is out?

Thanks bud! I do plan on replacing the oil pick up tube gasket, I think I'm ok with the tube itself and the rear main seal, I talked with Clay and he said I need a special tool. I will look into it more and see how it comes apart. I might be able to borrow the tool (don't even know what it is??) here in town.

The rear seal can be replaced without the special tool if you decide you want to replace it. The wear ring and seal are pressed onto the crank hub as an assembly. The tool presses it on evenly, but it can be driven on with an aluminum or brass rod as a punch if you're careful to drive it on slowly and evenly and don't bend the wear ring. I put a thin coat of oil on both surfaces before starting. There's also a wear ring on the harmonic balancer that can be done the same way.

Yep, but they pretty much never leak - so I would not bother.

Yeah it is pretty rare, but if he feels like doing it it's not as hard as people make it out to be. The Fel-Pro seal is about $15 and comes with a paper gasket. Throw the gasket away and use the TA-31 sealant if you do end up changing it . . .

Sorry if I missed it or if this is a dumb question, but since Moroso makes a great pan for this engine specifically, why would you use this one instead?

Great thread, still watching interestingly. I used my CAT backhoe to pull my motor too

Thanks guys! Its just hard and never easy. When I got hurt he brought a smile to my face and was there when I needed some companionship. After only 1 1/2 years he did his part into bringing me the fight I needed to move forward. I will miss him and may he roam with the other 4 legged rioters. Love ya little buddy.

I'll try and move forward with the truck project this week sometime.
