Agreed. Their first response was that they could not duplicate the issue so they asked if I wanted to pick up my truck. I said no, did some research on the forum and they followed through with what I found.

My biggest concern is that it malfunctions while I'm towing in some remote area, not in front of my house.

Check the ground at the connector below the column. There is usually a bad ground wire connection in the wire bundle. (factory)

 

Street Rodder: thank you for giving me too much credit. I'm pretty good at quite a few things so I am not afraid to admit that things electrical is not one of them. I installed an aux horn requiring the installation of a relay and I almost posted my success on Facebook. Lol

I would not begin to know where to look for the ground.
