Bed floor seem weak, what to do?

I have a 2002 F250 powerstroke that I just dumped some money on to eliminate some rust. Unfortunately, I am now noticing that the floor of the bed is weak. I eventually plan to put a gooseneck hitch in for our horse trailer. Obviously I can't with the floor being as weak as it is. Has anyone else ever had these problems with the floor of the bed? I literally JUST got it back from the body shop a few weeks ago. The truck is solid and low on miles. I would hate to have to buy a new bed so soon. Any suggestions anyone?

The culprit is usually the cross members under the bed. Some have repaired them. Others replaced the bed.

A gooseneck hitch or a fifth wheel hitch for that matter does not rely on the bed for strength it mounts directly to the frame so some bed rust will not effect your plans...

I agree with this. Our fifth wheel has a plate under the bed which goes directly to the frame.
