valley cover with PVC port
I have a 1960 F100 which has a 1958 engine installed which has the valley cover without the pvc port. The original 1960 engine had the valley cover with the PVC port and the tube which wraps around the engine. I have the original engine and valley cover, can I or should I change the valley cover to the newer style? They obviously redesigned it for a reason

Did your original engine have the road draft tube (the metal tube that hangs down along the side of the engine and exhausts crankcase fumes) or the PCV system that used a PCV valve and a connection to the intake manifold? Either will work, but the PCV system is a "pollution control" system that keeps the crankcase fumes from escaping. And it can eliminate spots on the driveway from road draft tube drips.
It is really your choice, both will do the job of ventilating the crankcase. All of my 1960 trucks have the road draft tube.
