Front Dana 44 6CF Drum Brakes
Hi All,
Does any one have specs for the front brakes for the Dana 44 Front axle stamped with 6CF? I'm not finding good specs for the front brakes. Are they 12" or 12 1/8"?
I find some parts suppliers listing the 6CF as a 6CF HD - are these 2 distinctly separate axles?
Also, will this seal kit fit?
My truck is a 1969 F250 with original 360ci - NP435/NP205 - Dana 44 front & Dana 60 rear.
Thanks in advance!

And I think 12 bolts for the 3500lb large HD axle.
Your drums have the size of it. like 12. or 12.120 is on the outer edge or lip of the drums

^ You don't have to count anything to determine the size of the brakes! ^
It doesn't make any difference which Dana 44 front driving axle is present or Dana 60 front driver, either.
ALL 1959/75 F250 4WD's have: 12 1/8" x 2" front/rear drum brakes.
You will need to know what the front driving axle capacity is to get the correct seal kit.

Additional applications with 12 1/8" x 2" front/rear drum brakes: 1956/58 F250 / 1959/65 F250 2WD / 1966/72 F250 2WD except Camper Specials and with 7,500 lbs. GVWR
12" x 2 1/2" front/rear drum brakes introduced in 1966 F250 2WD's. Were standard equipment on Camper Specials and with 7,500 lbs. GVWR
1968/72 F250 2WD's with optional dual piston caliper front disc brakes have 12" x 2 1/2" rear drum brakes.

1966/72 F250 2WD/4WD have 15/16" diameter rear wheel cylinders.
The thing is, I can only give you the Ford part numbers for the seals, bearings and wheel cylinders/kits, which are usually useless at chain auto parts stores.
The bearings will have a BIN (Bearing Industry Number) stamped on them. BIN's are used by bearing shops and auto parts stores to ID the bearings.
All the info I've typed came from the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog that's available on a C/D from hipoparts.com

So I did some work on the back end of the truck not long after originally purchasing it. I removed the rear drums and inspected/changed out the hardware (springs etc..) but left the drum/shoes as is. While working on it I measured the rear shoe surface, they measured at about 2.5". Shouldn't this measure in at 2"
