Talking Building 68 F100 (Many Mods)

This is what the truck started as.

Well as you guys can see I am new to this forum as a member. I have been reading this forum for a few years now and enjoy it greatly. I figured id share my current build of my 68 F100 long box 2wd. I know what you are all thinking... who would build a long box? Well I always thought, why cant a long box be cool? So I accepted the challenge. I bought this truck at the age of 16 from SC. and began the slow process of making it mine. I will attach photos as I get the time.

I have done lots of work since this photo. For my senior project I stripped the interior and painted it to Bahama Blue and added a new stereo and 2008 f150 seats with the matching center console. Being that I changed the interior blue we decided to also strip the exterior and shoot that semi gloss black to at least match while I do the rest of the project.

I bought 18" XDs and couldn't afford real tires at the time.

Also after I painted it black I bought DJM lower I Beams and rear shackles.

Had a fella at a car show strip the rear and front.

Some Unfinished Interior Pics

Bahama Blue Dash with a new Black pad. I now have New carpeting and also the new style factory radio.

Custom Sub box with proper airspace inside of center console.

2010 F150 seats and center console

Here is a few interior pics. The interior is defiantly no finished as I buy things and see if I like the way they look and im sure I will change it as time and money come.

Motor Work Summer 2014

The completed product. I have now put a rear sump on to work with the new suspension.

The 429 engine prior to being done.

Over the Summer of 2014 I managed to pick up a 429 and had it fully gone through.

Winter Work

Here is some of the work I did through out the winter months. I decided to go to crown vic suspension since I had it all torn apart.

Taking out the old 360

Tacked in a support to keep rails in place.

Motor Mounts in, Just need to do some finessing on them.

Test fit with the new suspension and 20" Roush Rims.

Recent work

This work is what I have been doing in the passed couple weeks in preparation to order the drive shaft. I have now pushed my project to doing the rear. Some may ask how I got those roush rims on in the rear because those are 5 x 4.5" and a 9" is 5x5.5"? Well I ordered a 8.8 out of a 2010 gt500 to use. Now you ask why? Well they are now fairly common and it comes with Posi, disc breaks and this one had the Watts link and pan hard bar also.

The new rear end

Thought it was cool that Shelby was cut in the Dif Cover

Rear end just sitting in there

Sadly had to cut the box to install Notches for the axel.

Notches are set now to cut the centers out. These will also be the mount for the coil springs and will have cross members installed to mount the third member on the pumpkin.

I will post more photos as time goes on. I hope to have this driving by end of July. Ask any questions you may have id like this to be informative, and I will also ask for things I maybe curious about. Im open to suggestions. If any one is wondering what tranny I am using, it is an E4od which actually bolted directly to the original tranny mount, just needed to slide it back. I will also be using the factory mounts for the front leaf shackles to attach the trailing arms on the rear end. they are almost perfect position. The trailing arms will need to be extended a few inches.

Great looking truck, very cool! I have always preferred the LWB myself, I know most people look at the shortbed as being cooler and sportier but it's a matter of personal taste.

How do you like those F150 seats? There is not a lot of room in the cab and when I put bucket seats in my truck, I had no room. My legs were cramped because I could not move the seat any further back; the head-rests were against the window already. And I'm not very tall I am only 5'7". I have more comfortable leg room now that I went back to a regular bench seat.
