Gonna come up and take the cedar island ferry at 10:30 grab lunch somewhere there, then take the Hatteras ferry and ride up to Manteo and circle back towards our house. Supposed to be a 10ish hour ride and about 400 miles. So I'm sure it'll end up taking Atleast 12-13 hours with fuel stops and eating.

Yea it would of, but I just got my new tire on, so gotta do some break in miles on that. They are a bit waxy and slick when you first install them so a break in of a 100-200 miles is recommended.

Hope everybody gets to enjoy this beautiful weather we're having.

Planning on it!

Took my bike, and then my buddies bike to get inspections this morning. Man was that a little chilly, headed out in a tshirt and it was about 56 degrees. Now I'm cutting grass since it's still not to hot.

Not really the case anymore with the new molding technology. In the old days they used a different release agent to get the rubber out of the mold. Which indeed would make the tires feel "greasy" when new. These days most tires come ready to ride right off the pallet. I still don't push them the first few rides but they don't have that slick feeling like they used too.

If your tires feel slick after the initial mount it's most likely due to cold tire temps. Cold tires of any age will dump you in a heart beat if you push them. On cold mornings I can't push my tires, sometimes, for up to 30 minutes until they warm up. That's why all the track junkies pay big money for tire warmers. So they don't have to make a few "warm-up" laps to get the tires up to temp.

If you're really worried about it you can do figure eights in a parking lot for about 20 minutes when the tires are new. That should scuff them in enough and remove any doubt.

Hmm I have just been going off what I was told, and the tires actually had a sticker that said that. Either way I rode them for a couple miles going from white to yellow to get little bit of all the tire.
