Turn Signal Adapter

This should allow use of either a switch or older style column mount signal switch to the rear brake circuit.

I just picked up a good original signal stat 900 for my 50 f1. I get the front wiring, but how about the back? Do I wire it into the existing taillight housing or do I need another bulb and housing for just the turn signal?

Is it a 4-wire switch or a 7-wire switch?

If it's four wire, separate signal lights will need to be installed. Someone with the wiring diagrams will hopefully show up here.

It's the 7 wire. When they took it out, it looks like they left the flasher behind. CG ford has the 7 wire harness with flasher but I am wondering how I am going to wire that into the existing tail light wiring.

I think this is what you need? This one shows the terminal position on the flasher. If you don't have a connector for it a stock headlight connector should fit.

I found it useful to buy a short terminal strip to organize the connections.

Were turn signals "original" on the 50?

Not on my 1950. I don't believe that they were standard until the mid-fiftys but someone on here will know for sure.

Turn signals were optional, and the factory installed the lights on top of the fenders, right in the way if you needed to lean inside under the hood.

Even the semaphore signals were still optional (aftermarket) in the '50's.

So here is my plan, to get the turn signal wiring harness from cg that has the flasher and fuse, and period correct cloth wiring. I talked to the guy that mAkes the bi-color led option up front, and he thinks he can make me a single led two stage intensity 6v. So that solves the front with led's and I am running led's in the back, so no incandescent. Can that work with the 6v signAl stat? Is there a 6v led positive ground flasher I can use to make it all work?

I believe those flashers require resistance from incandescent bulbs so you may have to put ballast resistors in the circuits or go to an electronic flasher module. The old style flashers aren't polarity sensitive, but the LED's and electronic flashers are, or might be.

Mixerman is correct. If you use LEDs turn signal bulbs you will need an electronic flasher and yes, they do have polarity just like the LED bulbs.
