2010 5.4 exhuast manifold

Im new here, have lots of info these manifolds. Have gone through four including both sides twice. This last time it seems the manifold has a crusty residue on the inside. The mechanic says it may be a bad head gasket. Any info would be great!!

Welcome to FTE.

You've replaced both manifolds twice, and they need replacement again? How many miles on the truck? What brand manifolds are you replacing them with? Do you have a picture of the manifold.

YEs, its the girlfriends truck and I've been getting second info so trying to piece it together. The first manifold was factory and the last three have been after market. The last one was covered under warranty by after market company. Its been both sides, so I'm a little confused by.
She has a local auotr shop doing the work and has been taking what they say and just doing that ,b ut there must be something else to try like headers or something

And the truck only has 140,00 kms on it

I don't know if they're not being installed properly(premature cracking), or just junk. I have installed dozens of manifolds(mostly Ford), on the 5.4/4.6 and only had to redo a few that were plow trucks.

this truck is used once a month to haul a horse trailer weighing 6200 lbs and a 29 foot camper but never should heating or anything .It has the towing package with the extra coolers so shouldn't be over heating.

Yes headers are an option. I've installed a set of both Gibson, and JBA headers. Pricey suckers.

Yeah, I've priced them but if that's a fix I'd do it!

How is the rest of the exhaust? Are the hangers installed properly and the pipes have some give? Sometimes the exhaust is pulling on the manifolds especially if it is towing. Also, how are the motor mounts and trans mount?
Might be something think about, you may be only fixing the symptom not yhe problem. Good luck!

Never thought of that it's something to check for sure. I took off the rad cap to check to see if a head gasket was leaking but on a little fluid came up and but wasn't spraying but the level was higher than the overflow tube so only nature to flow out some extra. I've been checking everything.

Have checked all the mounts they are good , now ordering headers. My question is will shorty stainless ceramic headers get rid of the heat as good as long headers? The guys at summit racing say they will ,just wondering if anyone on here has used either and have there been any other issues after installing them. Just want to does this once. Any thoughts would be great!

sometimes towing a heavy load can make the exhaust manifolds get red hot. and that can cause them to fail .....
