COP's under the 3.0L intake...

I'm unfortunately going to be replacing all 3 catalytic converters on mine real soon as well as the COP's (again).
I'm curious to know if anyone has done a cooling modification by routing a duct from the grille to blow cooler air under the intak manifold to reduce the temperatures the COPS are exposed to. The failed ones I have look like they overheated and expanded internally cracking the plastic allowing moisture to enter causing misfires.
Since my most recent failure never threw a code or lit the CEL but took out the converters, I would like to do whatever I can to prevent the COP's from failing.

In adition, is there any suggested converters preferred by the FTE members or manufacturers to avoid?

TIA
Joe
