Anyone make an alternative hood bumper setup to better protect the fenders?

The original hood bumpers tend to rub bare spots in the paint on the top of the fenders.

I was thinking about some kind of split tubing that might run the entire length of the underside of the hood where it contacts the top of the fenders. Something like miniature water pipe insulation but obviously more durable and better looking.

Fishing for ideas

ETA: Took a quick look a Soffseal, lots of extruded rubber buffers / seals that might work.

All that would accomplish is long lines rubbed bare on your fenders instead of dots. Better to use some clear chip guard material cut into circles and placed on the fenders where the bumpers contact. It's a heavy clear plastic/vinyl material sticky on one side.

That's a thought. I need some anyway, I was going to put it on the doors around the window crank escutcheons.

The previous owner of my 50' used tubeless valve stems. About $20 worth.

Is your hood / spring adjusted properly? Sounds like there may be an issue with hood or fender heights.

As much as the front ends on these float around (especially the hood), it seems to happen to all of them. The clear film is a great idea (too late for mine!).
