Brake controller set up properly makes night and day different when braking

I agree, and the factory brake controller does not have as many adjust options as some of the aftermarket controllers.

Not that I have this massive amount of experience with aftermarket controllers but I feel that the factory control has been far superior to the aftermarket one I had. But I'm sure there are better ones out there as mine wasn't some fancy one. I just felt with the aftermarket controller it was either all or none. I felt I was either getting zero assistance or locking up the trailer. No fuzzy in between.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most folks don't know how to set up their braking. They'll just hook set a # on the controller hit the brake maybe adjust and drive away.
It's right in the owners manual of the truck on how to get the trailer and truck stopping together or at least the working knowledge instead of poking and hoping. Heck, just on the Ford forum guys are lazy to open the manual and read, they'll ask a question get answer maybe right, maybe wrong and take it as the word. But there is always someone to correct them if wrong.

The boost functions on my P3 have me spoiled. It is to the point I hardly adjust the gain at all. When the trailer is empty the boost is off. Depending on how much weight the trailer has in it depends on how high I put the boost, usually B1 is enough.(depends on the terrain and temps) When switching to one of the other trailers I don't have to adjust much even though I have plenty to adjust if need be. The Ford controller has 3 initial brake power settings however not as many and not as sophisticated.

I have a P3 and it is the best brake controller I have used. I usually keep it on B1 unless I am hauling heavy(rare) and I can tell when it engages the trailer brakes. Doesn't take much. The thing has saved my **** and the ding dong in front of me when they decide to pay more attention to their phone than the road.
