Howdy from Alabama........new 1976 F100 Owner!
Well I finally did it, I purchased a classic Ford truck, but I'm a newbie who may need some help! Its kinda rough and needs a lot of attention, but I had to start somewhere
Specs:
1976 Ford F100 Truck, according to the plate it was a 302 V8 truck, with a 2-barrel carb. Built in Manwah, NJ. Truck #28,799, in Med. Ivy Bronze Met.
DG4 code confussed me a bit, it says Ranger Cab with styleside box. But the original emblem on the glovebox says Custom and the bed emblem is missing....help?
G code 3-spd. auto (C4?)
I plan to drive it as needed while I decide if I will go full on custom or do a slight resto-mod/hot-rod treatment to it.
It now has a 289 cu. in V8 from a 1968 Mustang.....it also already had a 4-barrel Holly carb and an Edlebrock intake. I think I will add a set of Summit racing headers (long tube) and a nice set of dual mufflers.
Here is my initial list of "To Do's":
1. Change the side mirrors back to the more sporty chrome originals.
2. Replace the front grille inserts. (should I do silver or black?)
3. Aftermarket wheels/tires...however, I do like the big wide look!
4. Polish or replace some of the exterior trim.
5. Remove the front bumper guards. (more clean look)
6. Straighten the front bumper (its bent)
7. Remove the bedliner and do a spray-in liner.
8. Replace inside trim pieces, dash, radio, etc...
Here is a current pic.....as my project begins, I will update with more photos. (BTW......I'm loving this original Ivy green color and may just re-paint it one day the same color)
Thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!!!!
Lastly, any warnings or must do's that you guys suggest???
Thanks, Joseph

Welcome to the forum Joseph! Congrats on the new truck. I'm sure whatever plans you have for it will turn out great - that's an awesome looking rig
