Very wrong on that one. We just got back from a trip to the Sierra. We were up a bit over 7,000 foot elevation, and the 3.5EB performed almost as if it were at sea level. We had done a similar trip a month ago in a normally aspirated Toyota truck, and at 7,000' it was wheezing.

Contribute something sensible or not at all.
maybe you should follow your own advice. your comment contributes nothing.

F150 Motors V8 VS EBs

It took me9 months to pick out a Truck. I rented the v8s, & had borrow friend Eb 3.5.

5.0 sounds good, gets stronger as the RPMs rise
3.5 EB, I was shocked on how Smooth & Quite this motor was.
2.7 EB Ditto as the 3.5.

at the end I went with a 2.7 EB and added a SCT LiveWire Tune.

With the tune I'm making more torque than the 3.5 EB, plus
all the issues with the 3.5 Eb had in 2012-13, they address it in the 2.7.
The 2.7 engine block or at least its upper portion around the cylinder bores--is cast from compacted graphite iron (CGI) plus the 2.7 use Twin Scroll turbos, the 3.5 used single scroll turbos.

the 3.5 EB will be updated to CGI when the 2017 Raptor will be released.

still getting 20mpg HWY with 35" tires, but drop down to 14 in the city.

all motors are great, I'm just a fan of TUNING. & with two small turbos, you can have alot of fun.

1) The internet has been fairly quiet about the fact that the 5.0 got bumped up to 385HP for 2015.

2) I like V8's better (sound, simplicity, etc)

3) My brother in law just traded a 2010 5.4 F150 for a 2013 ecoboost and he's unhappy with it. He says sure there is more power once the turbos spool up, but in heavy traffic (where I live), when you want to keep up with the car in front of you, it's easier with the v8 instant torque. With the eco, it's a little slow building up, then takes off like a rocket.

I haven't driven either, and sitting here at work in my cubicle, though I'd start a discussion about the driving characteristics of each engine.
I drove both the 3.5 & 2.7 EB's at the drive event. Then drove away in my 13 RCSB 5.0 happy. I don't know the gearing of the EB trucks, (mine has 3.55's) but I was not impressed by either. My truck was quicker than both Ford brought. I thought the new lighter body 4X4 crews would weigh about the same as my steel bodied RWD RCSB, so that is fair. I would not buy the EB if buying new. I'd take the 5.0 every time, unless I was pulling 10K through mountains regularly. That would be the only time I'd consider a EB.

I agree that the EB is doggy in traffic. But, if you put the EB's tranny in Sport or Tow/Haul you get much better manners in traffic. In fact, there is so much difference that I'm not sure all of it is due to just the different shift points. It is like the turbos are spooled up earlier in the rev range.

You would be surprised what holding the engine at a little higher RPM will do for a forced induction vehicle.

I don't feel that our 3.5 EB is "doggy" in traffic. I had to punch it the other day leaving from a stoplight, and I think I left a patch of rubber halfway across the intersection. This is with 3.31 gears too. Sucker hauls when the turbos spool up, and it doesn't take very long. I think running a few more RPM in tow/sport mode keeps the turbos turning.

I've never felt either of my EB trucks were doggy in traffic. The 5.0L is noticeably snappier, but it just takes a split second for the boost to come up.

The only turbocharged vehicle I've ever thought felt underpowered was the 1.4L turbo in a Chevy Cruze. Seemed to take forever for boost to build.

I prefer my EB in-traffic over the 6.2L. If I know I need to make a quick maneuver I hit tow/haul or downshift a couple gears. I do this for anything I drive, maybe because I grew up on manual transmissions.

The turbos in my truck certainly aren't at the moment.

I test drove the 3.5 and 5.0. The 5.0 felt more linear and smoother off the line. The 3.5 had a noticeable hiccup and turbo lag.

I went with the 5.0 V8 for reliability and driveability.

Only when the engine is running.

But seriously, I was referring to tire-burning-boost turning.
