I worked on the pressure washer tonight. Once it's working then I will start tear down of the green truck.
I really need to get that truck drivable ASAP so Clifford can be down for that side of the work...
And I'm also working on resurrecting a jeep gc for my wife in the middle od everything else..
Ugg I need a nap

well, i got to admit... it looks dang good. ive been toying with doing this to my 2wd f350 since i originally saw this post back in april? i think. a couple friends and i have discussed it over and over and may tackle it when i get my new shop built. i just did a clutch in my truck and i dont really want to work on the floor anymore. LOL. keep us posted on how it drives and rides. im going to figure out a air ride set up if i do it. does anyone know how to get the door tag changed so you can legally use the extra axle capacity the 550 axles offer?

And they're CHEAP! At least around here they are. You can buy an F-SD for less than an F-250. I saw one the other day that looked to be in decent shape for $2200. Running, driving (but Auto) just needed a starter solenoid.

But as soon as you changed the axles you change the original build of the truck and the Factory rating goes out the window

all the f-sd around here are trashed oil field trucks, and i dont want to tackle that nightmare.....

i know in kansas, on a antique vehicle anyway, you have to have a letter written by a knowledgeable 3rd party stating what parts were used, the ratings of said parts, everything from springs to the tires, any frame modifications made, and if up to industry standard, along with photo documentation and receipts/vin#/serial# of donor vechicles. then it has to be trailered to a dot office, they check the lights and look it all over and make sure what you claimed has been done, check the vin # and issue a "custom" vehicle title.

its a giant pain in the rear, one of the guys that is going to be helping with this built a flatbed car hauler truck with a 50s ford school bus frame, 60s chevy cab, 90s dodge rear end, ford front axle, and a gm big block and nv4500. it was a pain, but he is legal up to the axle capacity of the axles currently installed. however, if he goes to a heavier axle he has to start all over again if he wants that extra weight capacity.

i cant get a solid answer from anyone on if it can be done on a 90s pickup. i assume it can, but the dmv, highway patrol, sheriff, and state websites show up nothing. im going to have to do a lot of digging to find the truth.

hope to make some progress over the next few weeks. Hpop should be here as soon as they get my cores, and Jim has my injectors as we speak.

Remind me again, what injectors, hpop, and turbo you're going with.

Git-er-dun, July is coming fast!

Idk if i ever officially said.

after talking to guys over at Gearhead, and swamps i finally decided. took a while lol

stage 2 160/80s, adrenaline. s364.5sxe. It will be a heavy truck, with a lot of rotating mass with the 19.5s, and a standard transmission, and probably mostly driven only when hooked to a trailer. So this should be a decent tow setup, and quick spooling with the zf6. I see turbo discussion over there in Talyn's OT thread.

Wondering why your going w a zf6 insted of a zf5 hybred s5-42/s5-47 like Bill did for towing? IIRC 1st and 2nd were lower..

Its a hybrid between the 7.3 case and the internals of a 460 zf to get the lower 1st and reverse. I have a zf in my 350, and i cant stand how tall 1st and reverse are. I actually sold a 4x4 460 zf5-47 this summer for someone to turn their 7.3 2wd zf5-47 into 4x4, and as a side effect they got better gearing. I should of just traded my s42 4x4 for his 2wd s47. too late for that now.

Zf 6 has a higher od, closer to that of the e4OD, which will be even more noticeable with low gears in the rear axle.

ZF6
1st or low 5.79 . that is lower than the gas or diesel zf5 1st gear iirc
6th or OD 0.72 where the zf 5 is .76 or.77

the 6 speed has the slightler lower first and slightly taller OD, and one more gear between 1st and 1:1. and personally i like driving the 6 speed better.
