What makes you say this? My '97 F-350 with the 7.3 PSD used to regularly tow a trailer with a loaded weight in excess of 25,000 pounds, along with the bed loaded with 6-8,000 pounds, without issue.
What problems have you experienced while towing with a 7.3? How does the 6.0 outperform it?
However I would love to see 8000lbs in the bed of an f350 with a trailer with 25k on the back going down the highway and scraping frame...
I have been hauling rock all week...43 tons of it to be exact. Been doing 8-9 ton loads on the way home for about 22 miles...trailer is 6300lbs, pin weight of around 3300lbs...
My truck is not stock....and it was not an easy venture....
Truck looks fantastic... Plasti dip those steelies! Or paint them to match!
Thanks! After looking for aluminum or alloy wheels, realizing it would cost me 25% of the cost of the tuck, plastidip is sounding real good right about now.

All I'm going to add is the that horsepower is not subjective, period.
Horsepower is the rate at which work is done. A tractor can pull more than a truck because its a different type of work.
I have scaled 7tons in the bed of an 08 550 6.4. Somewhere at work I have the paperwork to prove it. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Different ball game than a 350 though...

Way different ballgame!
Funny story, I was at a shop a few years ago, and they had done a brake job on a 3500HD GMC truck. 2 days later, the owner called cussing out the service writer for messing up his brakes. He was stuck in a lot, and the truck would not move. So, the shop called a wrecker to go get him. The wrecker was a F450, and was told he would need to tow him from the rear because the rear brakes locked up. About 45 minutes later, the wrecker driver called back and said I don't have a wrecker big enough to move him. The shop manager said, "What do you mean? You have a 450! Just hook under the rear axle and pick him up and bring him here!" The wrecker driver said "I can't. It's a flat bed truck, and this idiot has a 25,000lb roll of steel strapped to the bed." What happened was, the weight bent the real axle to the point the axle shafts were rubbing the inside of the housing! Cost that idiot a new differential.

Especially since an 08 F550 is rated at..... 19,000lbs and a F350 is rated at 9200
