97 7.3 won't start
just bought a 97 f350 7.3. drove it home washed it. drove down the road and back. Next day wont start. New batteries, starter, cam sensor, mechanical fuel pump, 3/4 tank of diesel, repaired wires to ipr, glow plugs cycle, black smoke out exhaust when cranking. any ideas? no codes

does your glowplug light stay on? sounds like you might have a pcm problem.

light stays on for 3-4 sec

Does you alt gauge stay way down for two minutes indicating the glow plugs are working and drawing juice?

It stays between 8-9 while cranking

You may have to low of voltage to start. The motor needs 10 volts. Put a trickle charger on it for the night.

My battery load tester shows 10 v while cranking. I put the newer starter on that turns eng faster.

10v is to low. PCM requires a min of 10.5
A good starting system should hold 11.5-12v

For a 7.3 to start you need a min of 500psi HPO, 100 rpm, 10.5v and 20psi of fuel
