trans question?? please help

Want to know if92 explorer 4.0 4x4 manual trans will work on 88 ford ranger with 2.9 4x4 manual trans are they compatable

I see you don't have any answers & I don't know either, so if you don't get any takers here, try the FTE tranny forum & if no joy there, try your local salvage yard, bet they would know.

I would guess that there is too much different between the 4.0L and the 2.9L to make a match.
