Manual to Automatic

Hi, I am new to FTE. I was wondering what I would need to make a 1978-79 ford truck automatic c4 transmission off a 302 work on my 1966 F100 240 three on the tree.?

66FordGuy Welcome to and the Slicks Forum.

Best to buy the donor and swap several things at once. You will need the column shift for the gears, the connect point is 2 1/3 in closer to the firewall than your current so you might as well use the power steering also. Since you have spent the money on the donor you might as well swap the I-beams for the power disc brakes too.

It's all bolt hole swap, might take a couple weekends to complete the project but you would be happy that you did.

Thank you for the information, my dad used to strip trucks back in the day and he kept the transmission and the steering column for the swap and that's all he has now, but I was wondering if the flywheel would work because the 302 is externally balanced and the 240 is internally balanced.?
