Bed Bolts for 96 F150

I have tried searching this forum, online parts stores, etc with no luck.
I need a bed bolt set for my 96 F150 extended cab short bed.
Any ideas? Thanks.

LMC catalog shows just a drawing which seems to be regular stove bolts.

Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

The Ford bolts have shoulders and oval shanks to stop turning and prevent crushing the box floor. Searches don't seem to turn up much info and if they are still available from Ford, (doubtful), they were rumored to be pretty expensive. Repro parts seem to be non existent?

I was wondering about using 1998 and up bolts with a spacer sleeve to prevent crushing? Never have been able to successfully remove a 1980 through 1996 bed bolt. Always had to cut them.

I used bolts and nut plates from a later model super duty. Ebay had them for about $80 complete with the driver bit. It worked out well. I installed the nut plates and anti seized them well and then ran the bolts in from the top of the bed. I didnt even have to get a wrench on the bottom. I would highly recommend it.

Well if you're looking for original spec bolts, the best (and cheapest) way to go about it is to go to a junkyard (Pick n Pull or U Pull It) if you have those anywhere around! Thats what I did and got all 6 for 59 cents a bolt! About $4 for the whole deal! If you want to go that route and dont have any of those near you, I can go to a yard near me and get them for ya! Pm me if that sounds good

Wow. The responses have been great. Many thanks and especially to michaelleiterman. Offered to get some for me!!! OUTSTANDING. I would prefer that to be a last resort because I would feel bad putting you to that much trouble, so I think I will try Machman's approach and get some from a later model kit.

I apologize for my late response, but I can normally only get here on the weekends.

Machman, do you know which kit yours was?

You have to watch the newer SuperDuty bed bolt clips. The clips like to brake then you are screwed.

I prefer grade 8 bolts w/washers the correct length with nylon nuts

Just in case you need it, here is a photo of the bolts from a 1995. I just finished pulling my bed.

I just did a search on ebay for F250 Super Duty bed bolts and came up with a bunch of hits. Mine were from an 04 model short bed. The bolts and nut plates were brand new and came with a driver bit. I anti seized them real good and they ran into the nut plates without a problem. I was tickled I didnt have to get under the truck to tighten it up.

many thanks

Thanks all. The info and the photo was much appreciated. I am not very experienced at working on trucks and am struggling a little, but am happy with the results so far. Fixing it up real nice. When finished I will post pics. Thanks again.
