Raining or not - it's time to get cracking on prepping the Durango for a road trip...

Well, I found the problem - one very worn out wheel bearing assembly on the driver's side. Never in my life have I heard a unit bearing sound quite like that...

Get a BFH to release it from the spindle. I haven't found a quick way to remove them.

If you're all bored you can come put my truck together for me. I'm finally getting burnt out. So much little crap to do, got a couple days off but broke so I can't go buy what I need to finish up the brakes.

On the bright side, it was HOT yesterday and this morning, but it just poured rain and dropped the temp about 10 degrees. Feels pretty good in the garage now that I don't feel like working anymore, lol.

cool, didn't know anyone that close was active on here. If you ever wanna tighten bolts, plug in wires and do all the piddly crap I'm doing now, come on over. lol. This stuff is just boring. All I've accomplished today was get parts of the clutch arm installed, got the two lines run from the prop valve to the master cylinder before I broke my flaring tool, tightened up the steering shaft, cut the clutch rod so I can extend it 2", got the electric fuel pump bolted on and somewhat cleaned out the bed. I was hoping to fire it up this weekend but that's still looking out of the question. I really need to find someone to do the bodywork/paint so I can start putting it back together, that would motivate me again I think. :P

I didn't have a problem getting it off. This generation of Durango eats lower ball joints and wheel bearings so often that they never stay there long enough to get stuck.

Now the broken sway bar link was another story. I wound up breaking out the cut-off wheel and cutting the bolt off of it.

WOO HOO!!!!

Today was a good day at the shop!

First, let me say, RC, man, I'm SO sorry about that. I hope you're ok. I REALLY appreciate you helping out this week. I wouldn't have gotten everything done without you.

Having said that, the engine swap got delivered around lunch time today. I spent the rest of my day cleaning the shop and MOVING IN TO MY NEW DIGS!!!!

And look at all the room I have in the main shop now!

Congrats on the new shop space, so you have 3 of the places in that row now? So do I need to bring the faded red Bronco down to make it Red Red?

And I could pull the passenger side axle and put in new axle u joints and maybe we could come up with some rock sliders, and a fuel tank skid plate, if you are not just swamped swamped.

Rich. No, I still only have two. I'm moving out of the far end. It was a hassle to walk clear down to the end and back every time I needed something. Now I don't even have to go outside. .....and I have an office to keep all my paperwork in instead of on top of my parts washer.

Next week is devoted to the monster truck. I have GOT to get it able to work again. I don't see an issue with tinkering on the Bronco. Just let me finish up RC's truck first.
