Fuel line question on 6.9L IDI
I just purchased a 1985 F250 6.9L IDI. I'm working through all the "customizations" that the previous owner (probably the original owner) has added. One thing that I immediately noticed is that the fuel/water separator had been bypassed. It was replaced by a smaller fuel filter and pump (pictures included). Any idea what these are for?

the separator was bypassed because they were not the best thought out idea engineers came up with. they would let air into the fuel circuit allowing the fuel to drain back to the fuel tank.
the electric fuel pump was added to help prime the system after running out of fuel, or to fill the fuel filter after changing it.
