Ford Releases TSB 15-0088 For 2015 Active Regeneration Jackhammer Valves Issue
#661
Yeah I was trying to say regen, spell check got me...I've never heard of any 6.7's blowing white smoke during regen either. I was sitting at the stop light thinking to myself who's POS is blowing a cloud of white smoke. I start accelerating and notice its coming out of my exhaust. I also noticed a really bad burning odor.

Both are wrong.
The first pic has the wrong valves labeled. The 2nd pic is the right-hand head.
In the pic that Wharrell circled, the two on the right side are intake valves. The one on the left circled, and the one below are the exhaust valves.
If you go to the TDS website, the valves that good ol' Nick is claiming are making contact are in fact the intake valves.

Thanks for clarifying this.

That's a fact.
Probably should stop derailing this thread.

update....
So we have had some warm weather here in Atlanta, last year when I noticed the problem it would happen in the high 70's and warmer weather. I have had maybe half a dozen regens in high 80's temps and the truck hasn't missed a lick . When its warmer out and I see it go into regen i turn the radio down and listen for any hint but its been good.
I dont know if it has "worn" in and fixed itself but I have not had the issues I had last summer. I wont make a final call on if the problem is really gone until we get into the mid 90 degree days. If its clear then I will assume its good and fixed itself. I really planned to keep this truck for a while so if the problems are gone and stay gone through the summer I will feel much better about it. I do plan to tune the truck but I will be waiting until I get to or closer to the 100k mark.
Just sharing with the others that have this issues.....oh and just to add my 2 cents on the pic of the head....
Ive had many engines apart and have blown up a few and some also. Never a 6.7 or diesel for that matter but engines are engines. Years back I took my small block apart to rebuild it for a nitrous setup. When I got it apart I found that the valves had been hitting the pistons the entire time. This is an engine that routinely saw 7,500k rpm. I did clay the engine and even had the pistons fly cut.....so I was surprised to see it. It obviously was barely touching because it never came apart but there was clear evidence of contact! Also did not have bent push rods either...very strange!
Point being....if the pistons are making contact with the valve it is very clear even if its just barely touching it. You dont need to get out your microscope to see it nor you you stare at it for 20 minutes wondering whats happening.....you know!
