The one thing I did with my last 6.7 that I didn't do with my first 6.7(100k no prob) is idle a lot in sub zero temps. We had a freak winter and between the farm and work there was a lot of idle time. But I have never seen the drive to clean filter sign, but may have missed it. Not sure if that would have anything to do with aggravating issue. Now with the edge I will do a manual regen if necessary. Should be an option from factory for all trim levels.

I picked up my truck today and the same story....... Dealer could not duplicate. I asked the service advisor if they induced a regen while driving..... He said they can only activate a regen while in accessory mode, is this true.... The dealer scan tool cannot activate a regen while driving?

Anyway it does not sound like it would matter if they can duplicate it or not since there is no fix!

My question is..... Why would the engineer or Ford recommend a head or engine replacement if they don't know what the problem is or a fix? Is it possible there is still s valve issue like on the previous generation and now a fueling issue during regen?

This is really pathetic I think...... It sucks on one side we have these high dollar trucks with an issue that cannot be resolved at this time. On the other hand my truck does not do this on every regen. I have also noticed on several regent my mpg did not drop like it usually does. It may be coincidence but the times the mpg did not drop the issue occurred.

I do have 3.55 gears and 20"s on average I commute 100 miles a day....... Truck typically regens once a tank.

This sucks!

All you guys have the equivalent of 3.31 gearing with those 20's.
Anybody here have a 3.55 truck with 18's that's misfiring?
Maybe this motor doesn't like loafing along in regen. Low piston speeds and fuel being dumped in.
But neither of the dealers in my area have ever heard of this issue, and there are thousands of oil patch 6.7's running around. I'm in Canada. Our fuel is better than what is sold in the U.S. I just drove 1000 miles running on U.S diesel without issues though. Using Ford pm22 cetane boost like Wharrel does. An engineer buddy of mine at our local heavy oil upgrader advised me to do this for lubricity and to help the filter catch water.

I think you're right. Mine never does it unless I'm cruising around 60 in 6th. Also, the manual regen runs it at 2k rpm and no problems there.

I'm still having a hard time believing the sticking valve story...
At least they didn't charge sales tax on the core charge!

Has anyone ever experienced the issue....then manually downshifted to get it to stop....then manually shifted back up into high gear to see if it continues to do it (comes back)?......not that anyone would want to but perhaps it would be another piece to the puzzle

Yes I have been able to do this more than once and was able to do this when Ford had a data logger on my 2015 back in early December 2014.

I was driving on interstate at 65 mph and I shifted to truck into 6th and the engine started bucking.

Just so Im clear....the truck was acting up....you got it to stop by down shifting....but was able to immediately re-introduce the problem by up-shifting?

Exactly

Hard to reproduce every time but I have experienced it.

I have not given up hope Ford can not eventually at least mitigate it with a PCM strategy fix but they say 2nd quarter 2016 at earliest.

Still have to give credence to techs that have replaced heads and said the valves were not sliding freely in the valve guides

I would really like to know how many if any trucks Ford has taken in with the issue to truly analyze and trouble shoot the issue

I posed the question before....how many problems, issues or complaints does it take for ford to issue a TSB?....how about 3 different TSb's?...10?....100?...1000?....10,000?....maybe one of the PAID ford interference runners has an answer....anyone?....crystal?

I would hope Ford is working on this around the clock.

Based on experience since September of last year, it is low priority

I am going to experiment with mine. I am going to drive around for a week in 5th and see if it ever goes into condition. After txt I m going to go back to staying in 6th I will run n additive for 2 tanks in a row. I did run an additive in the winter months but have not in the summer.

Last night while driving I saw the regen light come on and I dropped it to 5th.... Never had the issue.

However I do wonder if it is a load thing and at 60 mph in 6th the issue should also occur in 5th but around 50 or so to be at the 1,400rpm mark where the truck is in 6th at 60. With that said I still have never had the issue in 5th and last night the truck saw plenty of time at 1,400rpm in 5th..... Never once skipped a beat.
