Engine starter not responding?

1997 F250HD w/7.5 liter not starting.
Tried new battery but nothing changed, it will make the clicking noise but that's about it. What's the best way to track down the faulty part?
By the way, I suck at electrical work.

Quickest way to elminate the starter or solenoid is to have some one hold the key in the start position and crawl under the passenger side of the truck and hit the starter with a hammer or pipe, something you can get in there with, if it starts after a couple whacks you need a new starter. you can also jump out the solenoid at the starter with the battery cable that feeds the starter, if it cranks again it's the starter. make sure your grounds are clean and tight, as is the posative, from the battery to the starter. see what happens.

Ok, Thanks. I did have to start my truck at least a dozen times recently by crawling underneath to do the old screwdriver trick on the starter. But the last couple times I did this the bottom center bolt that I don't touch, would spark like crazy and then start to glow. Now that trick won't turn it over either. Does this information help?
Thanks for your help.

So it turns out that it was the solenoid at the starter.
Installed new starter w/solenoid and starts everytime.
