VIN: F11YR802079 / WB: 120 / Color: JM / Model: F112 / Body: V91 / Trans: N / Axle: 08 / Max GVW lbs: 5600 / Cert Net HP: 172 / RPM: 4000 / DSO: 422249
VIN: F11YR802079 / WB: 120 / Color: JM / Model: F112 / Body: V91 / Trans: N / Axle: 08 / Max GVW lbs: 5600 / Cert Net HP: 172 / RPM: 4000 / DSO: 422249
Y = 352 2V
R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.
802079 = 1966 .. assembled January 1966
Be aware that some of the following Warranty Plate codes do not apply to a 1966 F100 4WD
120" wheelbase: 1966 F250 4WD / 1966 F100 4WD: 114" or 129" Wheelbase.#
JM: J = Rangoon Red / M = Wimbledon White.
F111 = F100 4WD .. 5,600 lbs. GVWR
V91 = Probably a typo, as 91 is a C500/1100 Tilt Cab. Could be V81 if this truck is a Ranger.
V81: V = Red Crinkle Vinyl & Red Rosette Pattern Vinyl (bucket seats) / 81 = 81B Custom Cab with Ranger Package.
N = 1965 New Process 435 4 Speed / A was used in 1966 for this trans.
08 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.50-1 / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
5,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
172 net HP @ 4,000 RPM
422249:
42 = Fargo ND Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
2294 = Domestic Special Order number, truck special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
The special order parts that this truck came with are unknown today, as FoMoCo THREW AWAY all the records decades ago.
# 1966 F100 4WD's have coil spring front suspension, use the same cab and Styleside beds as 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's.
1965 F100/250 4WD's & 1966 F250 4WD's have leaf spring front suspension. Use the same cab as 1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD & 1961/66 F350. These cabs have a step visible when the doors are opened.
These trucks also used the "wrong" 1957/60 Styleside beds, so-called because the bed lines don't line up to the cab lines.

You mentioned the codes were provided to you. The plate on a 1966 is quite small and hard to read. We've had people post codes from the plate they are standing there looking at and it made no sense. Then they took a close up picture and posted it where we could zoom in and they had some of the letters and numbers wrong. See if you can get a good picture of the plate if possible.

Left: 1964/65 Warranty Plate (US only) / Right: 1966/69 Warranty Plate. This Warranty Plate and the codes stamped thereon is the same for 1966/68 Ford/Merc trucks assembled in Canada.

Ya, on my Ranger they had the VIN wrong on the title and registration from day one in California (two digits transposed) so when I went to register it here in WA I wanted to get that corrected and our DMV wanted a picture. Took a great one but when they uploaded it into their system it was illegible. So, next they wanted a pencil rubbing of the Warranty Plate for the VIN (believe it or not) and it was very hard to get a great pencil rubbing due to the diminutive size. Got one on about the 10th try.
BTW: I should be seeing your friend and mine today....

I am needing help to find out the original color of my 65 F100 I just purchased. I am new to owning a Ford.
I found these numbers on the Warranty Plate under the VIN located on the left door face below the latch.
WB: 129 / COLOR: N / MODEL: F100 / BODY: 481 / TRANS: A / AXLE: 09 / MAX GVW LBS: 5000 / CERT NET HP: 129 / RPM: 4000 / DSO: 71

N = Not listed for any 1961 thru 1966 truck.*
F100 2WD .. 5,000 lbs. GVWR
481: 4 = Light Beige Crush Vinyl & Light Beige Wicker Pattern Vinyl // 81 = 81A Standard Cab.
A = Ford type 3.03 3 Speed Manual all Syncromesh Transmission.
09 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.70-1 / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
129 net HP @ 4,000 RPM (240 1V I-6).
71 = Los Angeles (SoCal) Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
*Look very carefully at the COLOR code. If the die stamp was worn, H & M can appear to be an N.
