Opinions please - think it'll burnout?

Recently purchased a '71 F250 CS 2WD. 390 was supposedly "rebuilt." Dad and I got the timing lined out and adjusted the carb. Had a little bit too much fun one night and threw a rod blowing a hole the size of a 50 cent piece in the block. I'll post pictures later. It's slightly impressive.

New 390 that's almost finished will have the following:

Fully balanced
Bored .030
9.5:1 pistons
C8AE-H rebuilt heads
Performer RPM
Carter 750 carb
Mild cam - .510/.510 .050 214
Doug's headers (D603)
2.5" true dual exhaust (undecided on mufflers)
Performance Distributor (DUI)

Rebuilt C6 (tightened up & shift kit)
TCI Torque Converter (just over stock)

Tires are 265's I believe and it has a 3.73 rear end.

Think it'll be able to do a burnout?

I'm afraid I'll get this thing going and it's gonna be a dog for some reason. My dad is telling me otherwise.

I'm a born and raised GM kid that loves old Ford's. I don't know much about Ford engines. Thanks guys!

I say if it doesn't flat out MOVE, you've got problems. It should be able to roast them no problem....

I mean mine isnt the fastest thing on the road, but it does 0-60 in 7. And it pulls all the way up to,,,,,, well,,,,, I don't know how far it will go! I run out of ***** at 100MPH! And I've only got a mild 351...

Limited slip differential and 10.5" tires grip the road real good, but it's easy to get it sideways.

Damn. I suppose it would with that kinda gearing though. I've
Essentially got 2.75 gears with 31" tires so I've got pretty long legs. 75mph=2500rpm

Man I wonder what mines at 75mph? I don't have a tack in it yet but when it blew I bet it was around 4000-4500?

Should be able to burn them off no problems. Probably be able to get some spin just mashing it from a dead stop.

cam is a little too mild , but with 373 gears you should be able to smoke the 265 tires

Now we're 4-0!

The cam is what my dad thought would be best. I don't know ***** about engines really.

**EDIT** 5-0

you can do a burnout in any vehicle. But yes that set up should roast tires no problems. But remember how you treat your stuff is how it's going to treat you.

Jrob,

I'm not talking about power braking I'm not really in to that. I understand completely after this spendy venture of mine. I just sometimes wanna smash it and hope it burns them at least somewhat.

Haha I understand what you mean. I'm guilty of doing some stupid things in or on vehicles myself.

Jrob,

We've all been there and done that haha. I'm lucky I passed my buddy so then we had a ride back to town. I'll post pictures soon of the parts it destroyed.
