Unbalanced Driveshaft?

Just curious if anyone has run into this problem. On my 2007 f150 lariat 5.4 this past weekend I went to change out a pinion seal and figured while I was at it I would drop in some new U joints in the rear driveshaft (regretfully). I wasn't able to get the U joints to even move slightly with normal methods so I put it on my 10 ton shop press and it moved but also broke the yoke plate where the 12 mm bolts go through to bolt to the diff. So I ended up taking it to a driveline shop where they fixed it all up for me and balanced it. They said it was out a fair bit. The truck only has 142,000 km on it and I'm sure the driveline has never been touched before so just wondering how it would become so unbalanced?

The truck doesn't get used off road its a daily driver for my wife and goes straight down the highway about 20-30km each way. I've owned the truck since about 60,000 km. No major accident just a trailer catching the back corner and peeling the bumper back so i'm not sure how it could be so far out. Now that its in though it really feels like a different truck. Its one of those things were you didn't realize how bad it was until it gets fixed.

Anything could have happened to the driveshaft before you got the truck. Or, it just could have been poorly balanced.

I think the shop just has a tighter tolerance than the factory. You can balance a wheel/tire, put it on and drive it around a bit, then recheck it and it often needs a little adjustment.
