I want to build a 416!!

I have a 75 F100 4x4, will be lifted 4", running 37's, 4.88 gears, C6, NP205/203 doubler.

Not a daily driver, just a weekend toy, around town truck.

My current 360 is wiped. I am restoring the entire truck, or restifying, or whatever. I want it nice, solid, reliable, powerful. NO matter what it's cheaper than a new EcoBoost lol.

Anyway, using a 428 crank, 390 rods, and these pistons http://www.summitracing.com/parts/slp-381np30 , makes me a 416 at .030 over correct? With around 9.5:1 c/r?

This seems like an affordable, reliable combo to me, I just can't justify 2,000 on a 445, not when I can just use a 460. So, anyone spot any flies in my ointment here?

Finding a 428 or 410 crank....

Or buy any stroker kit. Then you get all the other parts you'll need also.

A 460 will require a new trans, bellhousing is different.

So with the linked pistons, a gasket bore of 4.165, a compressed thickness of. 030, and a combustion chamber of 72cc, I come up with a C/R of 10.3:1. Seems reasonable to me...

Still need a crank... Oem is hard to find, and if you buy a new stroker crank, you can go bigger CID if you wanted to buy a kit. Those pistons are pretty cheap though.

I have a crank, from a Thunderbird. I have a set of 390 rods if I take the whole motor. Which leaves pistons and balancing. If those cast will work, this is affordable for me.

Sweet. Giver hell.
That should be an easy build. All fe connecting rods are same length I think, and the 410 has a 390 bore, it should all bolt together. Balancing is cheap. You'll either need to neutral balance it, or spend the money on a 410/428 flywheel/flexplate.
Being cast pistons you'll still be good for plenty of hp. I wouldn't worry about them.

EXCEPT 352/360 rods, which are a bit longer.

Correct. So does my math check out? These pistons at a 1.660 compression height combined with 390 rods and a 428 crank, deck height of 10.170 = .030 in the hole right?

You are correct. I had to look it up. I never built a 352 or 360, so they aren't on my mind. The 352/360 have .052 longer rods, which could cause some frowning if they were mixed up.

As far as your math, not sure. I usually consult with the guy who does my machining. Sorry I'm no help on that.

Specs from "in the day" including the 410. Note compression height and piston to deck numbers:

Ford "FE" engine specifications

Don't believe the math, you have to assemble and measure a 45 year old engine and parts. The books say a 410 had a 10.5:1 CR, but mine was really around 9.3:1.
