can anyone help a new ford owner
I bought a 86 f350 that has a rebuilt motor and tranny done in 2006 after completion it was parked until I got it. Which was two months ago.I had it towed to my houscompleted tune up and the truck started just fine. But would overheat when I tried to drive it around the block so I changed the water pump and found that behind the water pump it was clogged solid . I cleaned it out put on a new water pump, but now I can't seem to get it started whatsoever. So with that said I've already changed the alternator, got new battery, changed the starter solenoid, and one fusiable link that was eroded.....oh and the rotor and distributor cap. And low and behold still can't get it started if my life depended on it. These are what I've noticed ....carb seems to exhale in stead of gulping in gas like a v8 motor should be doing. And has a weak spark at the center plug on distributor. Can anyone please help. It would be greatly appreciated from someone who can't afford to take his beloved truck to a shop. Thanks .

I use to have an 87 F150. I had issues where it wouldn't start but turn over etc. replace all electrical I could, plugs, wires, distributor, ecu. When I was ready to give up on it, leaning over the drivers side front fender, I looked down and saw a small relay box with 4 wires going into it. There was corrosion on one wire and it pulled right out. Stripped off a new piece of wire and reconnected it, truck fired right up.
Not sure if you have this particular part on top of the fender but my guess would be a wire somewhere is your problem.

You'll probably get better responses in the correct forum for your truck:

This is the 99-up Super Duty forum. We don't much worry about distributor caps and carbs here.
However, you mentioned that a fusible link was "eroded." As in, not blown/burned, but rotted away? I'd be looking over the rest of the wiring if it has indeed eroded away.
