Better on gas? FEs are notoriously thirsty. Bet on around 10 to 12 MPG. 15 MPG highway if you drive like a nun.

6400,, pass. Rust free must mean something different there, the frame is rusty, the cab corner d/s is rotted out.

I'm not sure a 70's truck would be lighter than an 80's truck, lol. look for a straight 6 if you want good mileage and a decent engine.

IIRC, HP was 215 for the 360... don't recall the TQ.

Btw, remember that HP ratings changed from gross to net.. or net to gross in the early 70s. Don't recall which it went. One of the more senior FTE members can chime in on that.

I believe it was gross to net. Begore then engines were dynoed without all their attachments like alternators, oil/water pumps, fans, etc. after the switch advertised horsepower and torque spec went down even though nothing actually changed with the engine itself. But I thought it happened in 71.

If I was in the market for a truck like that, I wouldn't pay more than $3k for that one. For a 2wd, that kind of price would at least have a nice engine bay and no body rust. All the stuff he has listed as "done recently" comes up to mayyyyyyybe $500-$800 worth of parts.

It comes down to how much you like it and how much you want to pay though. If you want it bad enough and have the money, don't let us tell you what it's worth.

Maybe the price is $Canadian. :P

Up here in rusty Vermont that price doesn't seem completely out of line. If I was looking for that particular truck I would be THRILLED to buy it at,say, $5000. Folks throw 1/2 that much money away every day for a nice set of 20" rims and tires for their car! The truck is forever once you buy it. Go for it! A few hundred here or there will soon be forgotten once your driving that baby! Gary

I laughed when I read this. If thats what you want you might want to consider a 72 Toyota Hilux. You are not gonna find anything in a 1/2 ton with more than 1 of the 3 things you list. And the 1 thing is "older"

I'm not looking for a some a great deal lighter and better on gas. Just don't need a 3/4 ton anymore and a half ton will do me fine. Went to see the truck yesterday and it ran pretty good. The owner is getting the drivers side motor mount replaced today. It drove and braked nice and straight. Not a single spot of rust anywhere on the body. It's in Vancouver bc Canada, not vancouver Washington so it's in Canadian dollars. I know it's a bit over priced but these trucks are getting very hard to find in my area.

6400 Canadian? No way. It looks nice and fairly clean for a 73 but I think in reality 2500 US. That's the same color scheme as my 76. I see its got Washington plates....if he's in BC.....why the Wa plates?? Weird
