460 EFI spits and sputters

Hi guys, I finally got the 460 back in my 1994 F350 dump truck. On its maiden voyage it ran great with no issues. When I went to drive it yesterday it fired right up and off we went. Shortly after it started to sputter and I couldn't accelerate only so slightly. I turned it off and restarted it and it ran fine for a couple miles. When I slowed down to turn and take back off it did it again. So I pushed the clutch in and turned it off and back on and it ran good again. So, what would make it do this and go away for a time when I cycled the key?? When this happens I can barely push the gas pedal down or it sputters. Any help would be appreciated.

The typical answer, as a guess, would be fuel-related. Start at fuel filter.
What condition is it in?

Filter is not that old. I just don't know why the problem goes away with a single quick on-off of the key then it runs good for a bit.

The starting point would be to pull any fault codes.

You'll want to get an accurate fuel pressure reading at the fuel rail.

And investigate some ignition-related problem like PIP sensor or Ignition Control Module.

Retired Ford wrench at the local track mentioned that fuel filters can plug under pressure, then clear after pressure subsides when particles back up in line.
