Here is the info on my truck, posted a few years back. I can only find a plate on my glove compartment door.

trans rear color production code
D = 215 six cyl;
2 = '52;
CS = Chester, PA;
17663 = serial number
3= regular 3 spd;
3.92:1 rear ratio;
color N = Meadow Green;
28K = October 28, 1951 assembly;
CS551-P = Chester, PA assembly

Interesting that so far the color code issue, with the exception of your 52 above is limited to the Twin City (St Paul) plant. Also curious that in the plant code on that truck it has SP in it. Is it possible that part of this truck was done in St Paul and part of it in Detroit? I believe that M-H was in Indianapolis, could the truck had been built in St. Paul, then shipped to M-H and returned to Detroit for some kind of final assembly?
Nope, that's a 2wd donor. All the M-Hs, F-2 and up, started life I think in either HM, CH, LU, or in Windsor. We've had one Merc come to the surface from Windsor. Chuck says some half tons were done as kits and could have been installed on any of the trucks. Stu

Like CaptPayne's HM cowl stamping, I have no idea how to decode this. Anybody figure this out? It is on F1R1HM43475. G= Sea Island Green, HM= Highland Park, 28E=May 28 91=plant coding
Then again the KC line worker left us no questions about F3R1KC15275.
But what does the cowl stamping mean? Looks like KC H 79213. Stu KC= Kansas City, H= Silvertone Gray 79213= Plant code
I would assume that somebody missed the date stamp, thus the handwritten date, the #9 may have been an employee code or a shift code of some sort.

81= Conventional cab
HP= Windsor (Home Plant I think)
Hopefully one of our Mercury/Canadian guys can help us with that.

My firewall was never painted during the color change and its meadow green. I'm in process of doing body work followed by painting, I'm going to keep it some shade of red but the firewall will remain the meadow green.
You sent me back to the barn. That first digit looks like a 3, but could I guess be a G that was oddly stamped. The truck was Sheridan Blue from the factory - firewall, under dash, inner roof, etc. But there is a lighter color that's worn through in some spots that I've assumed was primer. Hard to imagine the dark blue was applied at the factory on top of green. From M-H it went to Siebert and after their conversion it was poorly repainted what looks like Silvertone Gray. Siebert is said to have failed to include the cost of a repaint in their conversion contract, thus many spots got missed. No matter I guess, Sea Island Green can be argued as being original, and beats heck out of the present flat black.
Your KC senario is plausible, but I've heard stories for years of line workers signing their work in similar ways. The truck is certainly Silvertone Gray. Neat that there's no confusion on the build date. Stu
