Yayyy for things that annoy the crap out of me. Went to change my fuel filter, and the fuel bowl wont drain. Also I broke my dipstick handle while checking the oil level after doing the fuel filter. And of course no one in town has one, and u have to order one for $30... Seems ridiculous for a plastic piece that does nothing.

So one problem down. Swapped in a 4" flow through 24"x7" muffler. Its the exact same size as the stock one except designed for 4". Made a DRASTIC difference. Id say it cut out 50% of all the noise in the cab. Now I just hear the loud knocking of the diesel. But still a MUCH quieter ride. I cant even hear the exhaust anymore. For $50 its definitely worth it. I also learned that Im not a fan of loud diesels. I find it sounds like theres something wrong with the motor. No offense, Im just not a fan of the 3" DP to 4" exhaust with no muffler. XLERATOR 4" Stainless Steel Performance Diesel Muffler 24" Body XS2772 | eBay

Personally I'd rather hear my engine singing than the drone of a loud exhaust. I'm with you, but to each their own I guess.

Got to test the truck out for the first time in about 4-5 months. It sat over the winter. I have an f150 with shift on the fly 4x4 wich is alot safer then the manual lock hubs on the 7.3. So i didn't use it. But I did crank it up and pull my jeep and trailer up a 5 miles hill at about 8-9% grade. Was able to pull the whole time at 40mph and never get above 1200 degrees. I was pretty happy with it. It's nice to just jump in the truck and be worry free.

I pulled the camper again over Easter holidays and had a bit of a weird experience. When I would put my foot to the floor going up hill on the interstate my truck would go to 2.25-2.5 rpms then start jerking like it was cutting out. I was on heavy tow mode and going 65-70 mph. Any ideas what that was?

Still trying to diagnose the weird cutting out issue. May be map sensor, may be tranny TC slipping. In the mean time I got tired of my ocd bothering me and now all my gauge colors match.

I just read this whole thread. Wheeew. I feel your pain. I have been replacing everything and I was getting close to good enough for now and I touched the button I have avoided for a long time and yep it was bad.. LOL I don't know the answer to your problem but hope you get it figured out. if you don't get the answers here you can go to just answer website and ask it. cost a little money 20.00 but you get ford trained techs helping you until it is done and fixed, they don't get paid unless your happy.. Just ask everything you can think of at one time. a new question cost more.
I have used it for boat repairs and fixing my ATV's.

Do you have Efuel? If so, do you have an oil pressure switch that tells the pump to cut on? If so, check that switch or replace it. If negative on the Efuel, do you notice if the cutting out is at a certain place on the throttle? It would help if you could see your TPS output while driving. It could be your TPS needs replacing. There are other possibilities, but I'd check there first. The TC is probably not the issue. That doesn't sound like TC behavior.

Sadly no efuel yet. I learned that it only does it in heavy tow mode when excelerating on flat or uphill past 71mph. But not downhill, im thinking its just the governor set at 71mph on heavy tow. Doesn't do it in street or daily mode.

I took her out and pulled the 7k camper up the mesa. I ran her a bit differently this time. Instead of letting the tranny pick the gear i put it in heavy tow mode then stuck it in secound gear and just made her work all the way up the mesa. Just stayed wrapped out at 3100 rpms, going 45mph, with about 10 psi of boost. I'm going to run it this way from now on. My engine stayed cool, my egts never got above 1150, I got much better fuel milage, I kept momentum, and I wasn't screaming "You f $@*ING piece of s%&t I put this much money into you and this how u act?" the whole time. So I was pretty impressed with her. But a couple of weird things happen. 1 when I parked at a rest area my fuel bowl lid was raising up and down about 3/16 of an inch in the center like a heart beat. 2 when I got to the too of the mountain my wait to start light would take forever to go away and my battery died twice trying to start. My electronics where working just fine but it just felt like my batteries wouldn't charge off the alternator. I charged them off a charger and it started right up in the morning.
