Mystery light?

Hello, my 3rd week with my new truck! new to me that is..1997 (old body style) F250 Heavy Duty 4X4 Extended cab 460 w/ E40D. Wow is this thing strong! Only 85000 and with a few areas of concern I'm very happy with it. Just finished my first tank full and got 11.9 mpg and that's with getting used to the heavy throttle spring..my question is, is the light tucked up under the fender on the drivers (rear) side pointing down there to aid in removing the spare tire in the dark? Ordered 2 bulbs (97) so can't test it yet but did put a ohm meter on it with the "flashers" on and got a pulse w/ each flash. That cant be it can it? Where is the switch at? I'm lost on this one cause it is a factory set up and nothing in my owners manual. Thanks for helping. Doog

no! nice try

it faces down and is under the fender, like I said I have no idea how to turn it on except when I got a pulse with my ohm meter and the flashers.

It's not a factory piece, you are on your own.

since it's a HD and has potential options for "snow plows" etc. there has to be a person out in the ozone that knows about it. it looks factory and the housing says FoMoCo on it plus it's wires run thru a metal cable housing and factory spliced into the tail light harness!!?? it'a a mystery.

Are you sure it's not one of the tag lights that popped out?

backup lights do not connect to the flashers.

I don't know why they would pulse to the flashers unless it was somehow shorting. My guess would be if it's factory and MAYBE to help assist in seeing to lower the spare, wouldn't it be hooked up to the cab courtesy light that over looks the bed? I would think being sort of like my F250, your turn your head light **** for the interior it also turns on the bed light, it should turn on the light underneath.

MYSTERY SOLVED

looking over the schematic I spotted a license plate light and then found a drawing of what I was looking at upside down...these trucks can be ordered with OUT a rear bumper..so the factory attached a bracket with glass domed steel framed light and it is where it's at and with a new bulb, works perfect when the lights are on! THANKS for helping.
