Interesting thread. I had a 75 3/4 ton with the 460. Tried headers and intake/ carb, timing, all that jazz. Never got better than 10 or so. But I could pull a house uphill against the wind no problem, still 10 mpg's. Get yourself a sipper instead to drive to school. The money you spend on the small car will be much better spent than feeding the beast.

I had a 1978 F250 regular cab 2wd w/7.5L engine, C6 trans and 3.90 gears. It had a custom dual 2.5" exhaust and a dyno tune. Those guys tweaked the carb and distributor curve. I used huge factory style mufflers to keep it quiet. That beast was quite a sleeper that got ~13 MPG highway (remember 55 MPH limit?) and would blow the doors off a few 'Stangs, Camaros and Civics from stoplight to stoplight. I would get thumbs up from most of peeps I "raced" and won.

You're right, I didn't even notice. Thanks for catching that.
It would take 474 days with gas at $2.64 to make up the cost at that price, still no time at all.
