my son has a 2004 f150 fx4 with a valve that dropped into the cylinder we have the motor parcialy apart in the truck we need to remove the head now Im wondering if we can pull the head off with the motor in the truck and does the front timing chain cover have to be removed to do this i dont have a place to pull the motor with a lift , Any Help would be much appericated Thanks James

 

I have seen a video of it being done. Yes you will need to remove the cover because it and the timing components attach to the heads

 

do a search on utube, I watched one the other day.

im haveing head problems to on a 01 5.4 can i change them out with p i heads off a 4.6?
