purpose of screen on bottom of car?

What is the purpose of it? Has anyone run with it off? How does rain and snow effect it?

I'm not sure of which screen you're speaking of but I would i,atone it is there to keep water out of the engine bay thus keeping water off of sensors and the alternator.
Would I take it off? No.

If its the 2013-2016, that is a splash shield. The turbocharger is down in that area. Can you imagine what a big blast of 33deg. water splashed on a smoking hot 400 deg. turbo would do?
