2000 7.3 Excursion Burned Down

Hi everyone,

Last week my 2000 burned to the ground, presumably from the speed control recall I have recently heard about. First, if you haven't addressed the faulty component, please make sure you do so you don't end up like me. Second, does anyone know if Ford offers any kind of settlement for this?? Thankfully I still have the 2004 Ex....Miss the 7.3 though.

That's terrible, sorry to hear.

I doubt Ford is on the hook for any compensation...

1. Why would they?

2. In the history of car manufacturing have you ever heard of a car manufacturer offering settlements for vehicles under a safety recall where the owner hasn't had the recall done? Sadly, that'd be a It would be nice tho, eh?

Sorry about the loss of your Ex. I'm surprised you're just now learning about the recall. Were you the original owner?

Very sorry to hear about the fire, no matter the cause that's never good.

Just to clarify for everyone on the forum are you referring to the recall for the cruise/brake switch that is connected to the master cylinder? I have heard of that one but just want to make sure...

I'm rebuilding one of those recall burn victims right now. The fire in mine was put out relatively quickly though.

Major bummer. Should be covered by comprehensive insurance if you have it.

OK I have a 2000 Limited 7.3L and I am worried. How do I tell if the recall has been done on my Ex? I am sure there is a thread on it but I can't find it.

So sorry to hear about your Ex.

Wrong, recall part is independent of engine.

If you have any other fords check into the recall as well. This goes back to the late 80's in trucks and cars.

I have the recall completed on my 00 7.3 X but the fuses keep going out on the part they installed. It looks similar to the picture posted but mine has two in line fuses. Does anyone know the part # of what I need to replace? Is it the brake switch?
