Our vehicles would not be covered under these.

That letter only covers one of the four investigations. Since that letter was written, the now full blown recall has been expanded to include more models and model years.

Still unsure if any of ours would be covered as I don't have my VIN handy to run through the web site, but the possibility is there. I haven't seen a definitive list of models yet, only years and manufacturers.

This site has a bit more information: http://www.safercar.gov/rs/takata/index.html

I ran mine as well and no recalls yet.

As the website says:

Please Note: If you are checking to see if your vehicle is affected by the Takata air bag recalls, it generally takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks for automakers to gather individual VINs associated with a recall. It is important that you check back periodically as a recall on your vehicle may not show up immediately.

Gonna make this a sticky temporarily while this widespread recall gets sussed out.

It piqued my curiosity too, the problem is shrapnel from the inflators. I recall (heh) that some models historically had a switch for the passenger air bag, at least. It sure would be nice to have simple ON or OFF feature for the damn things.

Lol... the first thing I did on my truck was pop the airbag out and disconnect the airbag connector and then re-install the airbag. I don't trust them... here's proof why I shouldn't I've never had one go off on me but never been in an accident either...

Airbags have never been shown to save lives, seatbelts have. I wear mine 100% of the time

Leaving the above for proof that even I can be wrong. Please don't take what I said as right, please read further down and you will see the correct info!
