Show me your lifted broncos

This summer I will be buying my dads friends bronco. I want to lift it, cage it, new bumpers etc. The fenders are already cut so that's already out of the way. What I cant decide is what size lift, 3.5, 4.5, or 5.5.... My friend had a 3.5 or 4.5 with 2" body lift with 35" tires and it had the perfect stance but he sold it and the new owner rolled it on day 2... So I don't have a reference anymore.

Was hoping those on here could post pics of their lifted broncos and list what size kit and wheels and tires they are running to give me an idea of what I really want.

Thanks!

Not sure how this will show up but this was my friends bronco I refer to above and would like to make it identical lift and all wise.

I think mine has a 5.5" suspension lift and a 1" body lift (done by a PO, but that's what it seems like to me). In the first pic it has 33/12.50-15s, second is 33/9.50-15, last pic is 33/10.50-15.

I could easily fit 35s with this much lift, and probably 37s without much trouble. I'd like to go lower (it ain't getting any easier to get in and out of!).

There's a good reason it's not alwas wise to trust your memory (at least mine). I was told once how much space there should be between the front bump stop and the frame. I measured it on mine and took the difference to come up with my lift. I was remembering 5.5" lift but it's actually 5.5" from the bumpstop to the frame (just measured again). So how much clearance is there stock? I'm remembering it was pretty small. If it's 2" then I've got a 3.5" suspension lift with the 1" body lift.

Mines custom, but equivalent to a 5" and it has a 2" B/L
The fenders are cut pretty high. 35x12.5x15 tires

2.5" suspension lift and 1" body lift all from Wild Horses 4x4. 30" x 9.5 Geolandar tires. I am trying to stay mostly stock with some lift.

Thanks! I am loving this truck. Spent seven years restoring it. Here is a more recent picture after it had a bath. I just got it on the road this past November.

Oh, and this is a before pic from back around 2008...

"...stance but he sold it and the new owner rolled it on day 2…"
B cuz he had too much lift.

1 suggestion Lesley - take the top off once'n a while, if U haven't (increased fun factor).
And
get a hood/windshield clip!
I can get under some pretty L O W branches. (very inexpensive - $60?).

Thanks, I plan to take the top off this summer, but this truck will never see mud. I just drive it on the road. Maybe some day I will build one for off road. I have a 4 point roll bar I plan to weld together this spring as soon as I get the top loose so I can test fit while assembling.

@ 31 inchers and no step-ladder lift these things were not made for that anyway. When I got mine in '83 it was to get into the home construction sites. Guys used them for hunting - drive there, get out'n lock the hubs'n drive a lill further to the tree stand or camp. There's plenty gradients where we don't get our skirts dirty. We hadda drive em home end of the day so that extreem stuff wasn't an option, anyway (+ twisted metal is expensive time/$). It wuz in the later yrs. they customized em for some of those OTHER uses - a more extreem rec. vehicle.

I'm hoping for the same thing. Trying to decide which way to go also for the proper look. I have a 68 that just became the latest project.

'66 - 8 or 9 window frames

Enjoy it,
'68 is the last yr w/the lift out window frames.
When the top's off & the windshield on the hood,
lift out the window frames for a smooth look.
(bolts R on latch & hinge sides, 1/4 way down)
Highest point will B the ster. wheel (& yer head/sholders).
I'm puttin in a '78 tilt wheel so nothing will sit above the doors.
