Gas tank liners

Question: have any of you had any experience with the chemical gas tank liners you can buy at the auto store? I developed a hole in my tank, and I don't want to weld it. The junk yard by me gets 20 bucks for a tank, and the gallon of liquid liner is 30 bucks. Thats half the cost of a new one. Thoughts?

If it developed a hole because of age, then the condition of the entire tank would be suspect.

Non-Highboy replacement tanks are available so, in my opinion, a new tank makes the most sense in this case if it's a run of the mill gas tank.

Now if ya had a rare vehicle like a Auburn or Cord, then salvaging an OEM tank might make sense. I don't think that consideration applies.
