trans back after clutch job

Can someone PLEASE give me some hints for how to get the trans and xfer case back in after I replace my clutch?? It took us almost 8 hours to get it out. It was jammed up between the exhaust and the tunnel so bad we ended popping the bell housing loose and the whole thing fell out on the ground!!

Can you install the bell housing first then the trans?? Is it hard to take the case off first then put it back on after the clutch??

Any sugestions are MORE than welcome

I can't see why you would have trouble getting things apart. On my '78 f150 4x4 there was plenty of room to remove and install the 4 Speed Manual. I can't think of why you couldn't mount the bellhousing first and then poke the transmission in.

If the exhaust is in the way, drop it by removing it from the engine. There should be enough play in the exhaust to allow it to fall away, hopefully enough to install your transmission.

Also, When I did mine, I dropped the rear of my 300 to make the mating easier and clear stuff. Then Huffed and Puffed and stuffed the NP205 T-Case on with it on my belly then up in place. Fun times doing this without the right tools

Make sure the Clutch is aligned before torquing the pressure plate to the flywheel.

well, just in case anyone else runs into this putting the Bell housing in firs was super easy!! Worst part was getting the TO bearing in place then just aligning the shaft with the clutch pack!! Easy Peasy!!

Yeah, bellhousing first is definitely easier. It helps if you get studs or cut the heads off of 8" long bolts. 7/16"-14 on the 385 series bell I did last. Use them as alignment studs by threading into bell to trans holes. That plus a trans jack should make it just jump in.
